Grab a cup of your favorite brew (or a glass of wine) and let’s chat about the differences between Minnesota Mini Sessions vs. Full Photo Sessions

Full Photo Sessions

Picture this: you’re twirling around with your kiddos in a whimsical field, the sun casting a warm glow on your faces. Cue the laughter and pure joy! It’s like taking a long, leisurely stroll through a treasure-filled park, capturing the essence of your family in all its glory. There’s no rush, no panic, no glaring at each other to smile before the time runs out. That’s the beauty of a full photography session.

I tend to recommend a full photo session for those special moments that deserve a little extra TLC. For example, if you’ve got a brand-new bundle of joy making their adorable debut, a full session will give us ample time to capture the delicate sweetness of those early days. Plus, it’s a lovely opportunity for you to take a well-deserved break and let the magic unfold naturally while I spend time capturing your little one. Remember, newborns and clocks don’t mix well, so we want to create a relaxed and stress-free environment for everyone involved!

Full photo sessions also involve way more control from the client standpoint. While I always offer clothing advice and location recommendations, a full photo session client can choose the date, location, time, length of the session, and a full gallery of 150+ images. These sessions typically run between 45 minutes all the way up to 90 minutes depending on your family’s needs.

Mini Sessions

Minnesota Mini Sessions are like bite-sized bursts of photography goodness. These sessions are always a blast and have their own magical power, but they are truly meant to be a quick snapshot of your family’s beautiful journey. They’re an ideal option for families with fussy little ones who might not be up for a full-blown session, if you are on a tighter budget, or you’re looking to have a themed session with a backdrop. For example, every year I host a mama and me mini session with florals and a backdrop! Check out some of the sneak peeks here.

Mini sessions leave out fewer decisions for the clients. Instead, I choose a date, location, and will offer several different time slots to choose from. These sessions are designed to be in shorter timeframe (between 10-20 minutes) and fewer photos compared to their full-session counterparts.

Which One Is Right For You?

Ultimately, whether you opt for a mini or a full session, the goal is always the same: to capture the magic and beauty of everyday moments. Consider your needs, desires, and budget. Whether you go for the full experience or a mini adventure, rest assured that we’ll create something extraordinary together. After all, it’s not just about the photos—it’s about the memories we make along the way.

On the most beautiful summer day, I had the honor of taking photos of the sweetest little newborn and her family near Stillwater, Minnesota.

There is nothing like adding a new addition to your family. Ali and Luke welcomed their sweet newborn baby, Margot, in June and officially became a family of four.

Before our session, I reached out to Ali asking what she envisioned for her family. For any session, I will always send you a Session Guide which goes through how to prepare for your photos and how to choose clothing items. I also offer my clients three curated outfit ideas designed for their family! This ensures that the outfits will fit my brand and style. It also takes out the added headache of trying to find dreamy outfits on your own.

After chatting back and forth, I sent Ali three options based on her preferences. From there, Ali went with the second option, choosing a dress from Worth Collective (find it here!) and an outfit from Zara Baby for their newborn. Luke already had a pair of khaki pants and a light blue shirt. Alice, their toddler daughter, had an eyelet blue dress that still fit her well. A few weeks later, the family arrived at our session and looked absolutely amazing! Their outfits truly came together and created cohesiveness without being too matchy-matchy.

Finally, their session had arrived! Alice was all smiles. She explored, played with flowers, and loved on her newborn sister. Ali and Luke took turns chasing her around as the other parent held tight onto Margot. They had only been a family of four for a couple of weeks but it was like they were always meant to be. It was magical to see and I felt honored to be apart of this milestone.
